Acne-Prone Skin Tips & FAQ

What is talc? Is it bad for skin?

Talc is an inexpensive, naturally occurring mineral often used in cosmetics to increase coverage, enhance adhesion, absorb oil and improve sensory the experience. If you have acne, oil absorption may sound appealing, but in some cases, talc-based products have the potential to clog pores, exacerbate existing acne and strip the skin of natural oils.

Does Jane Iredale use talc in their products?

No, we take a skin-first approach with all products, formulating with high quality, skin-nourishing ingredients and excluding binders and fillers, like talc, that can irritate skin and clog pores.

What does non-comedogenic mean?

Non-comedogenic means that a product contains ingredients that won't clog pores. We conduct independent comedogenicity testing to ensure each formula meets our safety standards.

What causes acne?

Acne can occur when pores are blocked by oil, makeup, dead skin cells and/or dirt.

What makes Jane Iredale products safe for acne?

We take a skin-first approach with all products, formulating with gentle, nourishing ingredients that help calm skin, balance shine and support the skin barrier. We also exclude known irritants and fillers, like talc, to reduce the risk of exacerbating or contributing to the development of acne.
